Going overboard with any aspect of home remodeling can be a mistake

In our uncertain times, any remodel needs to be kept affordable, enjoyable and practical. The days of trying to out do one another is done. The statement that bigger isn't better it's just more expensive and takes you longer to pay it off couldn't be more truer. Warm,cozy and inviting wins out over big, cold and impersonal every time in my book.
Because everyone is watching their money these days many of us cannot afford elaborate remodels. Reducing one's carbon foot print is a big issue for many people so when remodeling you must keep this in mind, along with energy efficiency of what you want to accomplish with the remodel. When you are thinking about remodeling begin with the areas that will give you the most resale value...the kitchen and the bathroom(s) are the top two areas to start with.
