Thoughts on many of the design shows on TV today

I have been viewing a lot of the current TV design shows and the majority of the designers on these shows appear to be steering the homeowners to products the designer preferred or what would increase the resale value if homeowner decided to sell instead of hearing why the homeowner selected their choices whether choices were made because of what they liked, what was priced within their budget or what was functional for them. So, if you are planning on using a professional designer in your remodel or doing it on your own, put what you like and what is functional for you as the user.
